And even now, there are regions on the European continent that openly belittle the rights of other people who may not look like the majority. How do such people live if their egos must remain in the shadow of themselves? And it usually starts from school days, when in order to avoid child bullying queers may either not accept themselves from that point on, or try to hide it carefully. Can you imagine the energy it takes to hide it? Maybe you can. Instead of using the energy of the self in the direction of learning, these people spend an enormous amount on hiding, avoiding themselves, and asking the question, "Why exactly am I...?". It is a terrible tragedy when the most ordinary and normal people are unable to be a full part of society just because the rest of society doesn't fully understand what they are.
After school comes university and then a full-time job. Every day, many LGBTQIA+ people still hide their identity. They play a normative role, they think there is really something wrong with them. They are ostracized. This is lawlessness and a major horror that should have been a relic of the past in all regions long ago.
The only places where LGBTQIA+ people could feel like themselves were magical worlds: a huge halo in space, a mushroom kingdom, and a dungeon with monsters were games. Games allowed us to relax, customize our selves and go on whole adventures. Here, no one would penalize them for what they were. This is a space where other players will be focused on gameplay, not on hating each other. Games provide a unique experience that offers to be on equal footing for each of the players. This is something that is available to everyone.
Be proud.
Just turn off your brain and
be proud.
Pride.
Happy pride month! Queer personas have come such a hard way throughout their lives, and Flat Reality sincerely congratulates everyone on this moment! We've had the opportunity to touch the" Xbox LGBTQIA+ Team" and now we're ready to provide our unwavering view based on tolerance and diversity that we will be celebrating. Get ready!
Representation is important
The above narrative is an unbreakable argument that we must represent any social minorities to show that they are just like the rest of the majority. Chances are there are some of them amongst you too! The job of game developers is really to create a fun experience, which can't be the case if the player will feel constrained and the game space will not be comfortable. We encourage you to incorporate more discrimination into your policies. Everyone is equal in games and we need to stick to that. Everyone can show their true selves without fear of being immediately judged for doing so. The gaming world should be safe and unique!
We are proud and supportive
Flat Reality as a game studio is openly supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community and will continue to evolve in this direction. Our internal policy implies absolute equality and tolerance, and enlightenment. In our game, we constantly keep in mind that it should be a comfortable and fun experience, so given the importance of representation, we keep our promises!
We also encourage support on our Linktree pages. If you need resources for help and awareness, please follow them.
The Nick Digest: June '24
That hasn't happened in six months! But we never stopped working for a week. Now our team has expanded considerably, we have more people from different countries, and now the development is going more smoothly. In honor of the holiday, a digest dedicated to the production kitchen is available. In brief: everything is going according to plan, we are working on cutscenes and technical improvements of the game, as it may not be optimized enough for some devices. Please read more in our newsletter here!
Fun in the Discord server
Just recently we launched a full community for fans of indie games in the form of the Discord server "Flat Reality EN". There's a lot of content waiting for you this month!
Join the discussion about LBTQIA+ topics and the importance of representation in games and tell your stories. There will also be a new themed discussion each week for everyone on the server to participate in. Support the communication initiative and join today!
Flat Reality employees in the Xbox Ambassadors initiative
Some people on our team who are also Xbox Ambassadors participated in a podcast and article on the stories of LGBTQIA+ individuals and wishes for Pride Month. You can get inspired by them on Microsoft's website and highlight something important!
We basically love working with the ambassadors because they offer a really great idea based on the fact that games are for everyone.
Congratulations on Pride Month and we hope you have a great time this June!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
As well as the rest of the months this year! We'll see you in our next longride this year.....
